FERRY ROAD
Ferry Road actually runs from the end of Gardner Road to the River Blyth estuary and then turns a rightangle westward running up river as far as the Ferry stop. It was no more than an earthen cart track, referred to informally as either Harbour Road or Jetty Road, until about 1912 when Southwold Corporation decided to hard-surface it. In this section we have included only the North-South stretch of Ferry Road. The riverbank section is included under 'Southwold Harbour'.
